One thing that all commercial IDEs lack is a sense of fun and friendliness. This is most obvious in Borland C++ 4.5. DOS-level looking text and a drab layout gave it a harsh, cold personality. Microsoft's ReBars, new style menus, and well-drawn icons give Visual C++ 6.0 an advantage over Borland in this respect.
Commercial Java IDEs have the same problem. Borland JBuilder and Symantec Visual Cafe are unfriendly. They are far too business-like.
However, share/freeware IDEs don't share this problem. ED for Windows, our favorite MLIDE (Multi-Language Integrated Development Environment), is personal enough to ask silly questions upon startup ("If 7-11 is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, why are there locks on the doors?") - certainly refreshing. ED is a powerful IDE as well. 37 languages come out of the box - including many I have never heard of.
Unfortunately, ED cannot excel as a Java IDE because of its MLIDE structure. We decided to incorporate the friendliness and potence of ED into a Java-only IDE.
Welcome to JavaJive.
This is the main editing window.
One of JavaJive's key features is GhostWriter, which automatically writes declarations and fuction blocks for you.
Anyone with the C++ code for syntax highlighting and autoindent, send it to DieselPower. We will acknowledge your help in the About Box.
